Crafting Fake Blood

To make INDEFINITE look real we brewed fake blood for authenticity. Christopher Kuiper and I scoured the internet for bloody concoctions. We even sliced our fingers to compare the color and fluidity to real blood. That crimson brew was used extensively for the fake wounds nearly every shoot day.

Waisted Blood

Most of the fabricated blood was trashed after filming wrapped.

A few actors had their wounds covered in gorey blood. Only once blood was visibly seen on set. During Otto’s frantic retreat in the kitchen shootout he swiped his damaged arm on the countertop. This left a bloody streak.

Sadly no blood gushing practical effects were used. We missed a chance to showcase closeups of bullets ripping flesh and blood fountains bursting open.

Fake Blood is Fun

Crew member Justin Wilson had spare time on his hands to play with the blood.
