The Contenders
Otto jacked a van, tearing through the streets to his office. In his clutches is the last mysterious orange vial of solution. His crew is on standby for when he returns.

“The Man in the Mask” stashed his car behind a dingy garage. Blood is soaking his shoulder from a bullet wound. He is driven by desperation to retrieve the vial.

Slow And Safe
A full-blown chase was off the table—too risky. We never gambled with our actors’ safety or put the public in danger.
The chase was all smoke and mirrors in the edit room. A comic book-style layout was utilized to stitch the images together. The moment was fake intensity at best. Just enough shots were captured to keep the story rolling. But, in reality the two were cruising the speed limit. Weak sauce.

Turbo Charge The Speed
We should have thrown in more filmmaking tricks to boost the speed of the scene.
Imagine jamming those rides in a garage with a green screen backdrop. Effects could be added to make the background fly by–like speed on steroids. Bold ink streaks would pop comic book style.
Snag ground-level shots. Wheels spin by. Lights streak by in a flash. Juice the footage with a speed bump in post. The images will appear to fly off the screen.
Last on the ramp up the chase list: hit the freeway. Point the camera out. Snatch scenery fragments whipping past. Play with effects filters and colors. The light streaks are now intensified.
Toss these fresh shots into the multi-image comic madness.
—Finally we hit real speed.
P.S. This was a perfect chance for Otto to drop some dialogue to build up the backstory.
